Orcon Launches All-You-Can-Eat Shared Web Hosting

A unique 'no limits' web hosting plan that includes unlimited space, traffic and websites has been launched by Orcon's iSERVE brand.

For a fixed monthly fee ($80 incl. GST), web service providers and resellers can add unlimited websites, POP mailboxes and email addresses at no additional cost.

The company says it's the ideal shared hosting solution for web developers, hosting providers, value added providers and resellers looking to better control their hosting costs, while providing a feature rich management console.

The feature set also includes unlimited FTP and stats users while 'No Limits' customers also get access to iSERVE's domain reselling associate program.

Orcon CEO Scott Bartlett says the new offering is unlike any product currently available in the market place.

"While there are a number of unlimited hosting plans in the market, none that we know of enables users to host Linux and Windows websites without extra costs for additional domain names, all on the same plan for one fixed price per month."

Managing multiple domains, websites and email is easy with iSERVE's web-based hosting management console, enabling users to administer online assets in real time.

The 'No Limits' web hosting plan is available to new and existing iSERVE customers.

iSERVE was acquired by Orcon in May 2009 when it was the country's second largest specialty hosting business. It provides a range of hosting products including website hosting, dedicated or virtual server hosting, cloud computing services, domain name solutions and more.

Setting Up Payment Options on Your Web Hosting Account

Now that you’ve got your web hosting set up and site uploaded, it’s time to get your head around just how to set up your site for actually doing transactions and making sales. The process can seem quite daunting at first, and there actually can be a few roadblocks along the way, but fortunately for you there are enough options that you can find workarounds if need be. Let’s take a look at just how you go about setting up payment options on your web hosting account.

There are a number of ways you can accept credit card payments on your site. The most common ways are to have a merchant account and a payment gateway in place, so that you can accept credit cards from your customers with ease.

Many banks, including perhaps the one you bank with, can open a merchant account for you. You can also obtain one through a merchant account provider, sometimes also called an ISO (independent sales organization) which sends your customer’s charge off to the merchant bank to be processed.

The problem with merchant accounts from banks is that they are sometimes difficult to get. They are fairly stringent in their requirements, are usually more expensive, and can take forever to set up. Merchant account providers, on the other hand, are much faster and less demanding than banks, and could be a good alternative.

If your merchant account or merchant account provider doesn’t offer a built-in payment gateway, you’ll need to acquire one. One of the most popular of these in the US is Authorize.net.

If for some reason you can’t qualify for a merchant account or simply don’t want to go through the headache of getting one, there is always the option of using online payment services that don’t require a merchant account. These are usually very easy to set up, and are gaining not only in popularity for their ease of implementation but also are gaining trustworthiness in consumers’ eyes as well. Some of the best known of these are PayPal, 2Checkout, and Google Checkout.

While these are very easy to use, be aware that in the end they are more costly, and you may need to move on to a real merchant account at some point.

Once you’ve decided on a payment processing system, you need to integrate it with your web hosting platform. You simply need to check and make sure that your host can handle what you want to do seamlessly. It needs to play nice with your ecommerce software and vice versa.

Look carefully at all the various fees you’ll be asked to pay, not only upfront for setting up things, but also per transaction. This can and does add up, and should be a vital part of a decision this important.

Taking payment on your website isn’t quite as complex as you may now suspect, but it does require some care and thought. Doing it haphazardly can be costly and time consuming!
